EVENT PROGRAM: Here is the official Event Program for the 2023 Redback MTB Stage Race. This fully explains the event with confirmed schedule, course details, rules and more. All riders should read it before arriving in Alice Springs and we will give you a paper copy at registration. Read it ONLINE HERE.

ENTRY FEES 2023

This year Rapid Ascent is offering a Long course (A-Line) and Short course (B-Line) options. Stage 2 (ANZAC Hill Climb) will remain the same for the A and B-Line courses.

Choose to enter The Redback as:

  • A Six-Stage Rider – Entering all 6 stages over the 4 days – being all Long course stages OR all short course stages
  • A Single-Stage Rider – Riders who enter less than 6 stages over the 4 days OR who want to do a mix of Long course and Short course stages – allowing you to pick the races you want to do!

SIX-STAGE RIDER INCLUSIONS

  • Entry to race week (6 stages over 4 days)
  • Event branded cycling SOCKS
  • Ticket for the Final Presentation Dinner after Stage 6 at Mercure Alice Springs
  • Free usage of the facilities (including the pool!) at the event hotel
  • Fully marked and marshalled course
  • Professional medical support on course
  • Professional electronic timing and results
  • Event photographers along the course to capture your finest moments
  • $40 from each 6 stage entry will be donated to Central Australian Rough Riders to help them maintain the trails and build local mountain bike participation

Online entries close 8:00am AEST Tuesday 15 August 2023
Entries will be available at race registration from 3-6pm on Thursday 17 August
Please note entries taken at registration will incur a $10 administration fee

To support the locals and the Central Australia Rough Riders Club who help build and maintain the Alice Springs trails we are very happy to provide a 50% discount to CARR members. To qualify for the locals discount you must:

How do I arrange this?

  • Contact Rapid Ascent office at [email protected] with proof of Alice Springs residency and CARR membership. We will then send you a discount code.
  • Enter online and pay the quoted entry fee (at checkout the discount will be applied).
  • Please note the discount applies to online registrations only.
  • Discounts will not be given retrospectively once online entries close.

PAST PARTICIPANT – BRING A MATE – FREE DRINKS

The Redback MTB Stage race has been on the event calendar since 2008! Past participants are invited BACK to ride the epic single track around Alice Springs to experience it all again… afterall, YOU KNOW how good the riding is in the Outback! And if you bring a mate this year, we’ll supply the celebration drinks with a $30 drink card each as a welcome gift at the event!*

HOW TO CLAIM: EASY! Get you and your mate to enter The Redback 2023 online where you’ll be prompted to nominate your mates’ name during the online entry process. *drink cards supplied at registration and can be used at the Mercure Alice Springs Resort.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Rapid Ascent will charter buses to conduct transfers from the airport to event hotels in Alice Springs on Thursday 17th August for arrivals and Tuesday 22nd August for departures. Riders can book onto our airport shuttle when bookings open in mid July 2023. If you are arriving on a different date you will need to make your own airport transfer arrangements – options are listed here.

REFUND POLICY

Refund Policy

If a competitor withdraws at least 23 days prior to event day they have the option of a credit or refund:

  • Credit: Credit towards another Rapid Ascent event – less a 10% administration fee
  • Refund: A refund will be offered, less 25% administration fee

If a competitor withdraws less than 23 days before event day:

  • No credits or refunds will be issued

Refunds/credits must be requested in writing via [email protected]
A refund cannot be granted once a credit has been issued.

Transfer Policy

  • Transfer of individual race entries are NOT permitted.
  • Providing there are spaces available, a rider may transfer from a higher entry fee event/category to a lower entry fee event/category before 8:00am AEST on the Tuesday before event day. In this case, the difference between the two entry fees will not be refunded.
  • Providing there are spaces available, a rider may transfer from a lower entry fee event to a higher entry fee event up to 8:00am AEST on the Tuesday before event day – no admin fee will be charged. Any entry upgrades requested after 8:00am AEST on the Tuesday before event day will incur a $15 upgrade fee (plus entry fee difference), to be paid at race registration.

EVENT RESCHEDULING / CANCELLATIONS

If the event is deemed unsafe or unable to be held on the proposed date, the following steps shall be followed:

  • Rapid Ascent will endeavor to reschedule the event to another date with all entries transferring to the new date
  • If the new event date is more than 23 days after the original date and you are unable to attend a competitor may withdraw from the event according to the refund policy above.
  • If the new event date is within 23 days of the original date and you cannot attend you can receive a race credit to any Rapid Ascent event less a 25% admin fee

Note:

  • Rapid Ascent reserves the right to alter or amend the originally proposed course(s) from that which was published on the event website for any reason
  • Advice of any event postponement or change will be made on the front page of the event website as early as possible before the event, and will be posted to the official race notice board at the registration marquee.
